Integrated Analytics

The new DS-9000 series hybrid digital video recorder (DVR) with integrated intelligent video analytics allows video surveillance customers to integrate flexible Internet Protocol- (IP) based technology with their current analog systems thus future-proofing their security investments.

Digital Media Processors

“Digital media processors are vital to video surveillance systems as they are directly related to the video quality and performance of end products, and TI offers the strongest DSP platforms in the market,” said Polo Cai, VP of international business, Hikvision. “TI’s processors offer high performance capabilities, simplifying the process of applying our own codecs and applications to the DSP and allowing us to deliver the highest quality products, and by offering the needed flexibility, we can easily develop a multitude of solutions.”

Digital Video Codecs

Hikvision’s advanced solutions benefit from the flexibility, performance and cost efficiencies offered by TI’s flagship TMS320C64x+™ core as Hikvision is able to integrate intelligent video analytics capabilities with advanced digital video codecs, thus improving image quality and providing a complete end-to-end system to video surveillance customers.

Hikvision’s new DS-9000 series hybrid DVR is an embedded product utilizing TI’s TMS320DM647 and TMS320DM648 digital media processors based on the C64x+™ core that seamlessly integrates analog and IP video with significant networkability and intelligence. The new architecture allows for multichannel video input encoding, intelligent video analysis and supports quad codec capabilities including H.264, MPEG-4, MJPEG and AVS. By integrating IP video solutions with analog based systems, customers benefit from higher video quality and save on costs while migrating from analog to IP-based systems.

DM6446 Digital Media Processor

Also based on TI’s C64x+ core, TI’s TMS320DM6446 digital media processor is tailored for video encode and decode applications and is capable of capturing various digital video formats. The DM6446 serves as the primary processing engine for Hikvision’s DS-2CD852MF-E network camera with PoE. This solution supports color to black and white switches, as well as day and night auto switches.

It provides for dual stream capable two megapixel video resolution with MPEG-4 and Hikvision’s self developed or standard H.264 video codec. The multiple connection ports, completed network and pan, tilt, zoom (PTZ) protocols are designed to adapt in various software platforms and offer customers a flexible solution with a variety of functionalities to meet evolving market demands.

IP-based surveillance is critical as security professionals require higher quality video resolutions to remotely monitor and manage their sites. Programmability and high functionality, including dual streaming, video analytics and customizable codecs – which are difficult and cost-prohibitive to implement – are now a necessity in this market and made easier with the use of TI’s digital media processors based on DaVinci technology.

“Hikvision is an innovative company with teams of bright engineers that have maximized the potential of TI’s flexible and programmable DaVinci technology based processors,” said Danny Petkevich, video surveillance and imaging business manager, TI. “By enabling quad codec support, integration of video analytics and advanced IP capabilities, Hikvision has future-proofed the investments of their video surveillance customers.”

TI is committed to strategically helping companies, like Hikvision, develop new and innovative surveillance solutions. By listening to customer needs and taking advantage of their abundant R&D resources, Hikvision is currently working on developing the next generation of new, innovative products that will satisfy future market demands for the video surveillance industry.
